Green Toys Sand Play Set Review

Every little kid needs a good bucket and shovel—especially when it’s beach weather (or lake / park weather!) Well, why not whole sand play set that comes with a bucket, shovel, rake, and castle mold that is not only sturdy and cute, but also incredibly eco-friendly? I could not wait to write a review on the Green Toys Sand Play Set, and as soon as I brought the set home for Eliette, we took it out of the environmental packaging, threw it in the beach bag, and headed to Malibu (kind of why I live in California). This set is something you will make sure to sharpie your little one’s name on and keep track of when you take it to the beach or park. We’ve lost a few toys in the sandbox on park trips and it’s never broken our hearts, but this is a set I’m making sure to hold onto. I love that the plastic feels really solid, unlike a lot of the typical sand toys you’ll find at every Target, Walmart, market, or CVS. I don’t think my daughter or even one of her tough two-year-old buddies would be able to snap the Green Toys shovel in half even if she tried—and it wasn’t hard for her to do with others! I love that the bucket has a thick rope handle and that the set also comes with a great little castle mold. So far, I’ve noticed that toddlers tend to be obsessed with building things like castles and once I taught her the concept of filling up the mold with sand and turning it over to make a castle shape, she won’t put the darn thing down! That only means more time for me to sit and enjoy a nice iced tea in the sun while she gets to dig, build, scoop, rake, fill, and dump with her new favorite toy.

I can’t think of anything I don’t absolutely love about this goodie. You get a lot of different useful pieces in the set, and they are so sturdy that they’ll last as long as you can hang onto them.

They sort them from all the other types of plastic and reprocess them into super clean fresh plastic called high-density polyethylene (or HDPE). This material is considered one of the safest, cleanest plastics around—that means no BPA or phthalates, yay!
• They use as little material as possible for their packaging and use recycled corrugated boxes with no plastic, making them 100% recyclable. They’re not only earth-friendly, but easy to open too!
