Artterro Creativity Kit Review

The Good

Some mommies, like me, have a big range of ages between their kids. It’s not always easy to find a great product for your baby that both you and your little one love and also fall under the eco-friendly category. As challenging as it is, I promise you, finding something to satisfy the attention of an 11-15 year old (that is not a video game or cell phone can be much harder. Eliette, now 2, is my first baby but parenting started for me about 6 years ago with my two step-kids, Hayley (15) and Tanner (11). I really lucked out with those two, and we felt like family from the beginning. Over the last 6 years we have gone through a ton of “creativity kits” from craft and toy stores. Even though they can be fun for an afternoon, the final products quickly end up tossed or destroyed—and often can feel like a waste. All three of our kids love to make things, and Hayley and Tanner have always enjoyed sitting around the dining room table getting creative with scissors, glue, fun paper, glitter, and all those other fun things that are hard to get out of your area rugs. Hayley tends to lean towards scrap-booking and making fun keepsakes like birthday cards and picture frames, and Tanner loves to draw, cut and carve (anything). The three of us are very happy to have found Artterro and their line of creative kits. We began with the Artterro Creativity Kit, which is a great starter, and Hayley had a great time making 6 different things out of just one kit: two bracelets, a couple of rings, a birthday card for her friend, an initial keepsake for Eliette and one for herself. Eliette even got in on the action (with some grown-up / teenage supervision.) Not bad at all for a craft kit with a good range of quality materials, all falling under $20! Something interesting about their kits too is that every kit is different, so even if you decide to try the Creativity Kit again, you know you’ll get something new.

The Bad

This product provides exactly what it claims: a creative mix of crafting material, all of great quality and for a good price. I have no complaints, and neither did the kids. Because of the quality of product and eco-friendly company, I felt good having my kids use the kit. It provided almost two full hours of media / screen-free entertainment, which is always a plus and hard to do with a big kid or teenager.

The Ugly

I have to say, Artterro does not fail in this area. They truly are an eco-friendly and thoughtful company. Here are just a few ways they are actively practicing being green, and you can see much more on their website:

  • They partner with Green Solutions Printing, a small family-owned buisness in Eugene, OR, where all our packaging inserts and marketing materials are printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper using vegetable based inks and renewable energy.
  • Minimize kit packaging, reducing waste and shipping expenses. Their products take up less space in packing boxes. The inserts are recyclable and bags reusable.
  • They have donated kits to Project Kids in Cambodia, an art program serving orphanages in Cambodia.
  • We feature high-quality natural materials in our kits like 100% wool felt, 100% post-consumer waste decorative handmade paper, glass and wooden beads, cotton thread, hand batiked cotton fabric, and copper wire. We want people to value the materials they are working with so they want to keep them.
  • Their fantastic retail display units sold to stores are made from 100% renewable bamboo.

This is a great company to support with quality products—which we all know is really hard to find. I will definitely want to get some more of their products to try out and so do our kids, yay!
