BABYBJÖRN Soft Bib Review

posted by Asia in feeding

The Good

It kind of breaks my heart when I prepare the cutest little toddler meal, which is pretty much what I’m eating but cut up into tiny bites, with the perfect combo of protein, veggies, and yummy carbs all put into a little bowl—and it all ends up on floor. That’s when the pirate in me comes out…YAAAaarrrGH! Another little crack in the heart forms when it’s completely and utterly impossible to get day old smushed blueberries and almond chocolate milk stains out of one of Elie’s cute new sundresses. Well, duh, that’s what bibs are for, Mom! Yeah, well I dare you to try and keep any old bib on my daughter for more than two seconds before that thing gets ripped off and joins it’s pals, Blueberry, Cute Little Pea & Perfectly Cut Up Chicken on the floor. My heart has since mended once the BABYBJÖRN Soft Bib sauntered into our lives. There’s something about it that doesn’t force Eliette to tear it off of her, maybe its more comfortable, or most likely she just gives up since it’s seemingly impossible because of the bead necklace designed neck (which is easily adjustable). The BEST part about this awesome keep-mama-sane-tool is that it has a deep swooping pocket that catches your little one’s spills. GENIUS! No more heartache, when all of your carefully prepared meals end up eaten by the dog (even though we know that they don’t mind cleaning up the baby’s mess.) And, you’ll find that you little eater will find the bib handy too. It’s pretty funny when you catch them eating most of their meal out of the pocket instead of off their plate since those spoon and fork skills still have a ways to go.

It also comes in a lot of cute colors (because really, that truly does matter), and you can buy it online in a two-pack… which is really all you need since it’s so super easy to clean—rinse it off and wipe it down in the sink, and let it air dry or towel it off.

The Bad

Every once in a while the bib’s pocket will push Eliette’s plate forward towards the edge of her tray on her high chair, but I just tend to use smaller plates and problem solved.

The Ugly

As a company, Baby Bjorn explains that their “environmental responsibilities” are “committed to minimizing the environmental impact of the product development, manufacturing and distribution of BABYBJÖRN products. Our efforts go beyond laws and government regulations with the aim to contribute to an improved environment.”

They also do not use chemical additives such as bisphenol A, cadmium, lead, phylates, bromine or chlorine. And they do not use PVC.

As a specific product, the BABYBJÖRN Soft Bib is made of PP (Polypropylene) and TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer). The plastics in the BABYBJÖRN Soft Bib are recyclable and classified as food safe in accordance both with US (FDA) and European (EEC) standards.

This puppy is really sturdy too. It will last WAY longer than any fabric bib on the planet. And even though it can be recycled when you’re lil’ guy or gal can finally get their food directly into their mouth, it can definitely be held onto for the next baby or passed on to a friend.

Wow, these bibs look amazing! All of my pocket bibs are a nylon material and the pockets never stay open – talk about useless…I’ll have to order a few of these!!

I MUST buy this for Joleen. We are just now making the transition to “big girl” foods. I cut up some chicken for her last Sunday, and most of it ended up on the floor…. our basset hound will not be happy when Joleen wears this bib ;)

Desiree – we use the KALAS bowls every day!

Stevee – our dog misses the days before we started using this serious food saver. Welcome to “big girl” eating and lots of messes!
